Richard Duryea Demo Reel

 
What you see in this video is all cinematography skills.  There were no special effects or editing tricks outside of color correction and time manipulation.

Shot 1:  Time lapse of the Kidder Creek sign.  Recorded over two hours to watch the sun rise over the camp.

Shot 2:  Wide shot of the sun setting (magic hour) over the camp.

Shot 3: Low rack focus by zooming out of the hail.

Shot 4:  Great depth of field of the bush going to infinity across the river.

Shot 5:  Cantered angle on a steep hill thereby distorting the background.

Shot 6:  High shot of climber using rule of thirds to show how large the rock is.

Shot 7:  Great depth of field of the shooter and her target.

Shot 8:  Shadows on his face were created by a nearby tree.  Use of shallow depth of field.

Shot 9:  Great depth of field shooting through the handle of a vaulting barrel to see a rider practicing on a real horse.
Shot 10:  Riding down on a zip-line for a cable shot.
Shot 11:  Extreme low angel to exaggerate the difficulty of the climb.

Shot 12:  Great depth of field and using railing to show separation of me and the riders.
Shot 13:  Great depth of field distorting the size of the hat to the waterfall.

Shot 14:  Low angle and the open sky to show the Tai Chi guys that they have both power, but so much more is out there in the universe.

Shot 15:  Over the shoulder to show that the speaker is teaching a group in an intimate setting.

Shot 16:  Lens flair using a spotlight.  Shot at night.

Shot 17:  Low angle of a bad guy giving him power, lit only with spotlights.

Shot 18:  Curling tracking shot using a dolly.

Shot 19:  Body takes up majority of screen showing how much power he has.

Shot 20-21:  Jump cut of the wizard at a low cantered angle along with lighting shift to show what he is capiable of.

Shot 22:  Cantered angle with only front lighting to show how evil this character is.

Shot 23:  Great depth of field of bottle being thrown at television.  Dark room with lighting coming from far side of the television to create glow.

Shot 24:  Pan down in the park to establishing the location.  Shot on 16mm.
